Music – Curriculum information

Our vision, at Broadacre, is to create musicians of the future. We aim to make music enjoyable for everyone, allowing children to participate in a variety of musical experiences. We aim to help the children to build their confidence in music by providing opportunities for all children to play, perform, create and enjoy music.

We will provide all pupils with an enriched music curriculum that allows for them to develop the necessary skills to listen to and appreciate a wide variety of music, as well as allowing them to express preferences for music, using musical terms.

As Musicians, children at Broadacre will:

  • have the opportunity to compose their own pieces of music using a variety of methods.
  • have the opportunity to play and perform using a wide variety of un-tuned and tuned instruments.
  • listen to and appreciate a wide variety of music from a range of styles, genres and artists
  • understand and use an extensive variety of musical terminology which will be built upon as the children progress throughout school.
