Sustainability
at Broadacre Primary School

At Broadacre Primary School, sustainability is an important part of our vision for the future. We are committed to reducing our environmental impact, supporting our pupils to understand climate change, and creating a school environment that is healthy, responsible and forward-thinking.

Our approach focuses on practical action, education and long-term planning.

Our Sustainability Focus

We structure our sustainability work around several key areas:

🌍 Reducing Our Environmental Impact

We actively work to reduce our carbon footprint through energy efficiency, renewable energy and responsible use of resources. Our modern school building, solar panels and LED lighting all support this aim.

🚶 Sustainable Travel & Air Quality

We encourage active travel through bike shelters, cycle training and consideration of environmental impact when planning school activities and trips.

♻️ Waste Reduction & Recycling

Recycling is well established across the school, with reusable dining equipment and clear systems in place to reduce waste. Pupils are supported to understand why recycling matters.

🌱 Biodiversity & Outdoor Learning

Our outdoor spaces, gardening club and tree planting help pupils connect with nature and learn about caring for the environment through hands-on experiences.

🧠 Climate Education & Green Skills

Sustainability is woven into our curriculum and school culture, helping pupils develop knowledge, responsibility and awareness of future green careers.

Looking Ahead

We continually review and develop our sustainability work. Our Climate Action Plan helps us:

  • Monitor progress

  • Identify priorities for improvement

  • Celebrate successes across the school

  • Plan future actions in a structured and meaningful way
